Chuck C - "Charles Axiom Chamberlain" (AA) (1902-1984)
Born in Indiana, Chamberlain moved to Los Angeles when he was 19. He was active in real estate and supermarket development before buying City Refrigerator Inc. in 1956. He and a son ran this business for 14 years. Chuck got sober in January 1946. A resident of Laguna Beach for 26 years, Chamberlain retired in 1970. Chuck was an early circuit speaker. He was one of the first to hold series of talks across multiple days. He continues to have a major influence on the recovery community world-wide, even years after his passing. Chuck was the sponsor of Clancy Imislund, and had major impact on Sandy Beach and many others. Chuck died of emphysema in 1984. Chamberlain’s body was cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. His book, "A New Pair of Glasses", came from his talks at the retreat listed below. Clancy had these talks transcribed and printed which resulted in the book. The book is available on the web.
